The department’s priorities include a combination of thorough training of students in specialised disciplines and professional mastery of modern information technologies and the theory and methods of technological education.

Members of the department are actively engaged in research. The result of the scientific work of the department’s lecturers is textbooks and manuals, numerous participation in international and national scientific conferences, publication of articles and abstracts in professional and regional scientific journals. The department conducts research on the topic «Methodological principles of professional training of future technology teachers». This issue is the subject of active discussion at inter-university and departmental methodological seminars and conferences.

During its existence, the staff of the department has created an appropriate laboratory and methodological base of the appropriate scientific level. The department has laboratories for general physics, computer science, teaching modern IT, information technology, computer testing, technical creativity, electrical engineering, electrical installation, mechanical engineering, cooking; classrooms for electrical engineering, methods of labour training and technology, descriptive geometry and drawing, modelling and design of clothing, life safety and labour protection; workshops for manual and mechanical processing of wood, manual and mechanical processing of metals, artistic processing of metals, wood, clay, wicker, fabric, easily processed materials and a sewing workshop. The material base of the above laboratories, classrooms, and workshops makes it possible to fully implement the educational process of the disciplines provided for in the curriculum.

The products of students and lecturers of the department are demonstrated in the exhibition hall of the academy, known not only within the city, but also in the western region of Ukraine thanks to the masters of folk art crafts, lecturers of the department – Tsimbalyuk Yu. G. and Pisarenka V. V.

The staff of the department took a direct part in the military operations in the east of Ukraine. In addition to the proper performance of combat missions, S. M. Tomashivskyi surprised his comrades on the front line with the art of pottery, V. A. Syvyi used his experience as a blacksmith, and P. V. Chulovskyi – as a furniture maker. Associate Professor I. Bilosevych is the head of the district Union of Combatants of the Joint Forces Operation.

The department has all the necessary conditions for the successful training of future teachers. Its technical potential is growing every year. To improve the efficiency of the educational process, the department purchased multimedia equipment, an electronic library and high-speed Internet access.

The department’s lecturers are constantly working to improve the educational process in higher education, developing various lecture courses and finding new approaches to teaching a particular section or topic of academic disciplines.

The current face of the department is a solid scientific and life experience, multiplied by the passion of young scientists who want to leave a significant mark on the achievements of national science and the practice of training highly qualified teachers.
